Modern alphabet. The current official Hawaiian alphabet consists of thirteen letters:five vowels (A a, E e, I i, O o, U u) and eight consonants (H h, K k, L l, M m, N n, P p, W w, ʻokina). Alphabetic order differs from the normal Latin order in that the vowels come first, then the consonants.
